Sutherland  New South Wales

A peninsula suburb lying between Botany Bay and Port Hacking, Sutherland has every right to the claim of being the birthplace of white Australia.

It is a very pleasant part of Sydney, wealthy in the natural beauty of its surf beaches, protected bays and rivers fringed by expansive conservation areas including the Royal National Park and its tranquil village resorts of Bundeena and Maianbar.

Two of its beaches – Cronulla and Wanda – together form one of the longest stretches of sand of all Sydney’s city beaches, and also provide some of the best surfing conditions.

Fishing is as much a part of life as surfing in this sports-oriented district which, of course, is home to rugby league heavyweights, the Cronulla Sharks. It is also the site of Australia’s only nuclear reactor at Lucas Heights. Miranda Fair is one of the largest and most diverse shopping centres in Australia.
